Preschool Graduation

Well, he's graduated! And off to kindergarten he goes. It's a bit funny how preschoolers "graduate." But they make it pretty significant and the preschoolers are pretty serious.

I commented to another parent as we waited for the kids to file in: "Parents are so silly. Look at us!" We were all outfitted with cameras, camcorders and up and out of our seat to get the perfect picture. Good thing everyone else was acting just as crazy.

You would have thought that this was a red carpet event with celebrities. And they were. Little tiny stars making their way to the stage. And really that's how it should be, we should be giving attention not to those unknown movie stars but to our very own family members.

As we looked at the slideshow of their year, it reminded us that we parents weren't silly at all. We were really taking in the moment. We were reminding ourselves that moments are fleeting. They do grow up too fast and one day, we will be up and our of our seats capturing their graduation from high school and then college.

We do need to celebrate and highlight more moments. We need to get together and make memories. I want to soak it up and not let it be forgotten that our first son graduated from preschool.

We ought to have more crazy, enthusiasm for life moments and capturing them. Here's to you Zachary! We're proud of you...not because you made it through preschool, but because you got be make friends, have fun and make great memories this year.
